KASE has inherited the established legacy, parentage and patronage of Kerala Ayurvedic Studies and Research Society (KSARS), VPSV Ayurveda College and Arya Vaidya Sala Kottakkal, an inbuilt strength which has laid a strong foundation for the institution.
The legacy of Ayurveda dates back to the Vedic and Pre Vedic Ages. The mythology says the science was invoked by Lord Brahma, the Creator
Ayurveda literature emerged as a subsidiary of Atharvaveda, the 4th of the Vedas and subsequently stood alone as a distinct system owing to its merits. The following millennia saw the influence of the transforming society on Ayurveda and the development of Ayurveda literature of which the three compendia of Charaka Samhita, SushruthaSamhitha and Vagbhata’s Ashtanga Sangraha are still considered as the base resources.
Kerala Ayurveda owes its legacy to local scholarly compilations like Chikitsamanjari, SahasrayogamYogamritham
