Philosophy

Ayurveda is the science and knowledge of Life. The essence of Ayurveda is to live healthily and help our co-inhabitants on the Earth, including the humans and other living creatures to live healthily. Education of the custodians of Ayurveda the medical and allied community plays a major role in maintaining a healthy Nature. The general public do have their responsibility in the health of the Earth. The awareness of the same needs to be percolated deep down says the Ayurveda philosophy, a word from the horse mouth which is adopted and implemented by KASE.

Legacy

KASE has inherited the established legacy, parentage and patronage of Kerala Ayurvedic Studies and Research Society (KSARS), VPSV Ayurveda College and Arya Vaidya Sala Kottakkal, an inbuilt strength which has laid a strong foundation for the institution.

The legacy of Ayurveda dates back to the Vedic and Pre Vedic Ages. The mythology says the science was invoked by Lord Brahma, the Creator ad passed down the divine line which also includes the twin Gods of health Aswinikumaras. The misery on Earth was discussed in a symposium of sages and the knowledge is said to be brought down to Earth by sages PunarvasuAthreya and Divodasa Dhanwantari. The disciples of the former are believed to have developed the medical branch while the disciples of the latter concentrated on surgical care.

Ayurveda literature emerged as a subsidiary of Atharvaveda, the 4th of the Vedas and subsequently stood alone as a distinct system owing to its merits. The following millennia saw the influence of the transforming society on Ayurveda and the development of Ayurveda literature of which the three compendia of Charaka Samhita, SushruthaSamhitha and Vagbhata’s Ashtanga Sangraha are still considered as the base resources.

Kerala Ayurveda owes its legacy to local scholarly compilations like Chikitsamanjari, SahasrayogamYogamritham and others.
